Court Time, Your Time

Whether you're in court, on call, or actively engaged in your duties, your time is essential to our mission. Your contributions are recognized and valued, and we're committed to providing a work environment that supports your efforts.

  • Rate of Pay 

    We value your time and dedication. That’s why we offer competitive overtime pay for all hours spent in court or related legal proceedings. Whether it’s a trial, deposition, or any court-related duty, you’ll be compensated for your time and expertise.

     

  • Single Court Appearance| Off-Duty 

    Employee will be compensated compensated three (3) hours of pay for all appearances commencing during the three (3) hour period, provided that the start of the three (3) hour period is more than sixty (60) minutes prior to his regularly assigned shift or more than sixty (60) minutes after his regularly assigned shift.

     

  • Multiple Court Appearance | Off-Duty 

    • Multiple appearances commencing during the three (3) hour period shall be paid on the basis of a single three (3) hour guarantee.
    • The employee will be compensated from the time the first appearance begins until three (3) hours later or when released by proper judicial authority if the release extends past the three (3) hour period.
     

  • Multiple Court Appearance | On-Duty 

    An employee attending courtor a judicialhearing sixty(60) minutes or lesspriorto his regularly assigned shift will be placedon on-duty status. Likewise, an employee attending court or a judicialhearing within sixty (60)minutes afterhisregularly assigned shift shallremain on duty until released by the properjudicial authority or released from duty

     

  • State Compensation 

    Compensation paid by the state, county or other person, firm, or authority which compels attendance must be endorsed and tendered to the City by the affected employee as a condition of being paid by the City.

     

  • Uniforms while on Court 

    When an employee is in court or in any way representing the City in any official capacity, he/she shall dress in accordance with the department's uniform policy.
