Six-Month Review Evaluation Requirement for Sworn Personnel

This is a reminder that supervisors are responsible for completing the required six‑month performance evaluation for all newly hired sworn police personnel once they reach their six‑month employment mark.

In addition, this evaluation must also be completed for any newly promoted sworn member, regardless of rank (e.g., Officer to Sergeant, Sergeant to Lieutenant, etc.).

The Six-Month Review Evaluation includes two performance competencies that must be rated on the following scale:

  • Outstanding: 4
  • Above Satisfactory: 3
  • Satisfactory: 2
  • Needs Improvement: 1
  • Unacceptable: 0

Supervisors must also provide overall comments and recommendations for improvement.

Once the evaluation is completed, it must be reviewed with the employee. A copy of the finalized and signed evaluation must then be submitted to the Human Resources Department for placement in the employee’s personnel file.

Please note that the employee’s supervisor holds full responsibility for completing this review.
